When I decided to start a blog, I was full of ideas and energy and was really looking forward to just writing. I set a reminder on my smart device to remind me to write twice a week. (BTW, Alexa heard "Log" instead of "Blog"...I still laugh when I get the reminder. I have no idea why.) I never really had an issue coming up with a topic, and only resorted to a cheap list-type post a couple of times. Thinking back on it, those cheap list-type posts were my most read. Maybe I screwed up by not doing more of them.
What I found out, though, was that I tended to write TOO much. If you read a normal story, post, etc, they average about a 3-minute read. My posts tended to be in the 6-8 minute reads. That was problematic for a couple reasons. First, I am not sure what the stats say, but I'd guess that my article lengths made them prohibitive to read in the bathroom. Second, even if someone DID have the time, I'm not sure I'm a good enough writer/storyteller to keep someone's interest for that long. The clicks told the story. I'd spend 3-5 hours a week writing and was getting less than 10 reads (and some of those were me double clicking).
I thought some of my topics were pretty cool. And I thoroughly enjoyed writing them (and reading them).
So, I am going to do a reset. I am going to change up my tactics and see if I can find the right formula. Bear with me...
